I just ran a workshop for Plymouth Business School, part of the University, on 'The Business Case for Sustainability'. A great subject to bring some wider thinking and ecological tools in.
Environment Agency workshop
In June I will be running two workshops introducing Environmental Management Systems for Environment Agency offices in Bodmin and Exeter.
Talk for CIWEM SW
On the 1st February I gave a talk to over 100 members of the Chartered Institute of Water & Environmental Management hosted by South West Water about peak Oil, the Oil Age & Transition.
Sustainable Event Management
I am delighted that my client Event Cornwall has won the category for best managed small company at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards. We have been working to implement a Sustainability management system for events to BS8901 standard.
Two worlds combine
I am extremely excited to be combining my businesses environmental consultancy work with Permaculture. Lush, makers of fresh handmade cosmetics are showing a keen interest in Permaculture (see my other website, link above, if you're wondering what Permaculture is). They are sending 20 of their employees to Brownsea Island for me to deliver a 2-day introduction to Permaculture to them. Lush has also started to look at applying Permaculture to their ingredient sourcing.
Design for Resilience
In May I joined a group of fellow Transition Practitioners to trial the Design for Resilience pilot. This two-day workshop aims to work with organisations at leadership level to explore the concept of resilience and complex systems theory, and why they're of major relevance to your organisation. It helps you understand your current levels of resilience, and how these capabilities may be strengthened in order to achieve your vision of your successful, thriving organisation in the future. All this in the light of future oil scarcity and climate change.
